Welcome To Televisions Unlimited

Introduction

The first television was conceived in the early 1920's in the black and white version.  Color televisions were developed as early as the late 1920's, but color broadcasting as we know it today did not start until the early 1950's. Cuba became the second country to broadcast color TV around 1958, followed by Mexico in 1963 and finally Canada in 1966.

Television in Europe decided to follow a different standard then North America causing the systems in Europe not to be compatible with the color systems developed in North America. In the Asia Pacific region, Japan was the first country to develop color televisions compatible with the US system.  Other countries decide to go with the European system.  Africa introduced its system as late as the 1970's in Zanzibar.

From the small round tubes to the flat screen TV's of today, we have come a long way. There is the regular TV, HDTV, LCD, projection, and more.
